Even the best laid plans...

Even the best laid plans don't always turn out and that is the theme of today. We woke up later than planned but we were still okay. We got some breakfast and finished packing up to head out... well Jason's shower went a little long, it started raining and I realized I didn't exactly have everything set up for where we were going... and long story short we had the wrong hotel address, we weren't sure of the exact train we needed and ultimately we spent well over an hour trying to figure everything out. We finally got out of the hotel at noon, hit up the post office to mail a couple of post cards to my family, went to the pharmacy for me, because I got bitten by some bug (I'm pretty sure it's not a bed bug, I already freaked and thinking it may be but I looked it up and I don't have the tall tale 3 bits in a row) and headed to the train station.

A raining morning in Strasbourg

Looks gross, huh?

Well the train station ticket machine wouldn't take my credit card and we didn't have enough coins to pay with, yes coins... the machine only took coins and credit cards. Unlike in the US the euro has 1 and 2 dollar coins along with all the other coins we have and a 2 cent piece. So we headed to the SNFC office to get them to take care of it. After being cut in line and waiting forever we were 2 people away from the counter when the fire alarm or so we're guess that's what it was went off. We all had to evacuate into the rain. It was really funny to see how reluctant everyone was. I'm glad it wasn't an actual emergency because we all would have died. My favorite part was watching the machine gunned police that weren't doing anything but watching the people not follow directions. So after the alarm stopped going we all hurried back in, mind you we were never informed to but the buzzing stopped. We had 2 mins to catch the train we wanted but decide to go for the later one. The later train was actually delayed by an hour and 15 mins... so we decided to get some lunch and chill for a bit. That bit turned into even longer as the train was delayed more. Of corse we would get the only try in Europe that wasn't timely... we laughed and said it was because it was coming from Brussels, because we all know I'm not a big fan.
We've been evacuated.

Look at everyone standing in the rain.

Yay...

Not say yay anymore...
Machine gun police officers just watching people roam around the "evacuated building"

The line to get into the ticket office.

Yum, food.

Back to the train station

I knocked over a beer in my window sitting spot. oops.

Ours is the top one... note the lack of number on the far Right indicating a track number and the  message next to departures.

It's been forever.....

We traded up spots to have a clock.

Jason attempting the "Harry Potter" to find us a train.

It's here!!! And wow is it old...

Our train ride was fine... relaxing probably a better word. I don't know what it is about them but they seriously make me want to pass out with comfort. I guess it's because they are so quiet and the movement is gentle and consistant enough that I can watch out the window. I got some decent pictures of the landscape but it doesn't do it justice. Gorgeous country side.

We arrived in St. Louis France not Basal, Switzerland.... because I booked this hotel so it would be super close to the airport and cheap. It's nice, we actually got a family room... looks a likea  big dorm room with 3 beds. After some discussion we decided since it was so late there was no way we'd make it to a laundry and the Swatch store would be closed... so we washed our clothes and started heading towards the Switzerland boarder so I could at least say I was on the grounds. I was super thirst when we came across "Geant Casino", which was like a Super Wal-Mart. Pretty fun... I got my drink and we continued on our way to find the bus stop. We found it but the stop running at like 7... we could get out to the boarder but not back. CRAP! So I settled, just rolling with the flow and we went back to Casino to get some junk for dinner and snacks tomorrow. I have some fun pictures so you can see differences in our cultures.

Doesn't it look dorm like?

I hate these doors.. they're scary and I couldn't help but snap a picture this.

Even trash mags in France.

We walked to another city...

Cheese

Cheese

Cheese... literally 3 full isles of cheese.

Two full isles of Yogurt

This is the other side of the yogurt isle.

We didn't make it to the laundry. They close at 5pm here.... and in most places in Europe. Silly, is it not? So here they hang... they aren't dry yet... it's been hours

Yummies...

We leave here early in the morning for Naples. I'm pretty sure we won't have internet for the next few days so the next blog will likely be a doozy.  Miss you all! :)
