Tonight’s blog is going to be a short one since we’re getting ready to go see Harry Potter, and when we get home we’ve got to start packing up a little bit. The movie is the original version so it will be in English with French subtitles. : ) I’m excited! I haven’t been to a movie since Star Trek came out. Anyway, today we finally got to explore the Père Lachaise cemetery. The day started out cool but sunny, but by the time we made it to the cemetery, it was so cold I was miserable. We saw a bunch of amazing final resting spots, but the people we were there to see were Apollinaire, Balzac, Oscar Wilde, Haussmann, Proust, Edith Piaf, Molière, La Fontaine, Jim Morrison, and Chopin. Over all I was surpised how random placements seem and how very little space there is. Jim Morrison is resting between a few graves. Really weird.

We read up on all the kisses. The family is mad because the fats in the lipstick can't be removed from his grave. :( |

We ate lunch over in Pigalle at the Omnibus café, which was very reasonable and pretty good. I was so glad to have the hot chocolate to warm up; it wouldn’t have mattered what the food tasted like. We sat there for a long time and enjoyed the people-watching and each other before deciding to head to a bookstore at Place de Clichy, which is also where we stopped for a crêpe and happened upon a cinema showing Harry Potter. I’m on a delicious food mission for the next few days before we leave. Harry Potter doesn’t start until 21:25 so we came home, got some groceries and are eating a little dinner before we head out. Speaking of groceries, I lost our cheese somewhere!

Happy last Thursday of 2010 we're off to the movies!!
**Edited note
Harry Potter was great. I was surprised by how fast the 2 hr and 25 mins went by... but alas I cried like a baby. So sad. My sweater was covered in tears and as I dug for my tissue I looked over and saw the guy next to me crying too. It's nice that the French men aren't afraid of their emotions. I feel drained after that one. Geez.
I am so excited that you took a picture of Chopin gravestone. All the rest too. All is well here, Greg put in 2 new headlights on your car. I waSo funnys cleaning it out for your but got cold. Went to dinner with Greg and family and ate to much, but had fun watching Gage, who is Mr personality . LG is going to spend the night tomorrow night , will see how long he makes it before his cat allergies kick in. Kitty dot has taken over my office chair, dad went in to get on computer, cat was in chair,I told him to tell her to move, He turned the chair around and Dot just looked up at him and gave that cat look that says it all !!! We both had to laugh. I picked her up so dad could use the chair. We are having fun with the kids here. LOVE MOM
ReplyDeleteThat picture of the Nutella jars got me very excited! Please have some of it while you're there. The European Nutella tastes better than the stuff we get here. I just finished all your posts and I'm exhausted just reading all the stuff you've been doing. You're going to need a vacation from your vacation when you get home. :)
