My favorite day in Ireland was our last, although I was starting to get nervous because we were in Northern Ireland and although thing had been cool for awhile there were people throwing missiles at one another in Belfast. Yay, right? Anyway, this turned out to be the best of all our days and it started with a drive up to the Giants Causeway. The giant causeway is 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that resulted from a volcanic eruption. As you can see it’s absolutely gorgeous and even thought it didn’t live up to my imagination standards (I kept picturing it to be like Q-bert). After I let me imagined imagery go and took in the real scenery I was much impressed.
I wanted to drive the coast a bit longer and I ‘m so glad we did because this is where the beauty in Ireland was for me. Not to mention my two of my favorite Ireland pictures, cows walking on the beach and trees covering the road, as I so named them. ;)
Those are cows! |
Finally it was time to say goodbye to good old Griffin and fly away to Edinburgh. I was oh so happy to see the amazing store that rolled in just in time for our takeoff. I now know why we don’t load through the back and front of the plans in the US because we wouldn’t stand in the rain to get on them. It was kind of silly, almost like running to the car in a rain storm.

This turned out WAY funnier than I thought it would! |
We arrived in Edinburgh and got our new car which I was actually really excited a about because I LOVE Peugeots or the “lion car” as I refer to them . Edinburgh was much more city like than Ireland and caused me to have to work a bit harder at driving well on the left side of the road. I think the fatigue had finally caught up to me and the rain of the city made me decide we weren’t going to go out. We had a great little hotel, which was part of the university of Edinburgh, a top floor room with a ceiling window. Made me feel like Harry Potter. Anyways, we did laundry all night, which turned out perfectly since it was so raining and cold.

See that's the roof outside of our room. |
