TMI the throat version

I'm finally sick. I've been struggling with allergies all summer and since the begining of Fall. I went to bed with my typical sore throat (I live with a chronic sore throat but I typically can tell if it's a sick sore throat or my normal allergy sore throat based on what swallowing feels like with water) and I work up at 1am in throat agaony and green post nasal drip. I felt feverish but didn't want to wake Jason up so I just kept lying there attempting to sleep. When I got up finally at 7ish the next morning I knew I was super sick. It killed to swallow, I still felt feverish, I had green snot, pressure behind my nose/throat, a sore neck, swollen glands, stomach ache and just generally felt bad. So I grab my trusty camera (since I can't find my flashlight) and snap a couple of pictures to be sure I need to go to the dr. As you can see below my uvuala was huge and itting on my tougue and although a bit read (which you can't tell from the over exposure) it didn't look nearly sa bad as it felt. It feels like a bad strep throat.

I headed to our local rapid care clinic, it's a walk-in clinic run by PAs and NPs. Now don't get me wrong I really love being able to get antibiotics quick and seen relatively fast but I HATE not getting a full look over. When I go to my Dr. up in Murfreesboro and every other Dr. I've gone to, they've ALWAYS did a full review of systems including feeling my glands, looking in my nose, palpating my abdomen ect ect. But here they weigh you, get your BP, look at your throat, in your ears and then listen to your lungs through your shirt. That's it.... they didn't even take my temperature. So after the quick over (maybe 3 minutes) then they typically offer an antibiotic, an antihistamine and decongestant combo that you could easily achieve with OTC medications and a steroid. I requested a strep test and they did one but instead of doing all sides of my throat they just did a quick swipe on one side and left it at that. My strep came back negative and the NP decided it was a sinus infection and sent me on my way. I had to tell them no steroid again even though it's on my chart. Like I said it's great to have access but I question their abilities. I was given azithromyicine which is similar to the Z-pack. The thing is there are many studies out about how many bacteria are resistant to azithromycine. By the time I got home my Advil had kicked in and reduced the swelling and my Robitussin had started to move more of my green snot. So.... This pic it what my throat looked like when I took my antibiotic.

It really doesn't look that bad... why do I feel so bad?!

So this is what my throat looks like this morning... my uvula has returned to almost normal but check out the sides of my throat.

This was 1st thing this morning around 6:30:

This was just a few mins ago:

I don't feel as bad as I did yesterday. However, it still hurts like hell to swallow... I still feel yucky but I haven't had any fever since last and I think that's making a world of difference for me. Any thoughts about those white spots on my throat? I've always taken them to be a sign of Strep throat.

So yeah, my secret is out... I'm obsessed with looking at my throat when it hurts and I hate to drink water when my throat is sore. The ONLY thing I like to drink when I'm sick is Kool-Aid and lots of it.
