I declared my 29th birthday to be all about me. 29 turned out to be an amazingly greedy and fulfilling year... I graduated, I traveled, I negotiated a good job, I actually walked out of said job (It was just like a movie) and I got knocked up. ;)
My 30th birthday (which I cannot believe was a whole year ago!!) was all about becoming mom. I embraced becoming a mom like nothing else in my life, and so I sort of lost myself. I haven't slept through the night since Kelso was born... I am all mommy all the time complete with leaky boobs, spit up on my favorite shirts and pj pants and sweats just about everyday.
I'm hoping, no scratch that. My 31st year will bring me balance. I will be become more than just Reagan, more than just mom... I will be both and better at both because I will be balanced.
My goals this fabulous 31st year are as follows...
- I will lose the rest of this graduate school weight (30lbs, that's about 2.5lbs a month, which is totally do-able, I will start the day after I eat my amazing muppet birthday cake)
- I will take an hour a day for myself... doesn't sound like much but any of you parents out there know that an hour is a luxury that we don't often take for ourselves. I'm hoping at least 45mins of this hour will be used for exercise :)
- I will embrace my mommyhood by having at least 1 playdate a month (maybe even start a mommy group or join one)
- I will be aware of what milestones Kelso should be hitting but I will not obsess about them and catastrophizing everything in my brain.
- I will only work 4-5 days a week this summer so we can have time as a family.
- I will make time for fun or something special with Jason at least once a week.
- I will stop comparing my life to everyone else's.
- I will catch up Kelso's baby book and keep up with it. It is such a wonderful keepsake.
- I will re-spark my love for OT by catching up on CEUs.
- I will remember to be thankful for all that I have.
Lastly
- I will love me for me... for all that I am and all that I want to be. I will love me for giving my all, for being the best mom, wife, daughter, friend, sister, OT and Reagan that I can be.
Sooo...Happy Birthday to me and to my mom (my mom has to be celebrated on the day that she brought me into this world). Cheers!
