I cannot believe I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow! It's CRAZY to think we are 1/2 there. The time goes by even faster with number 2 than it did with the first. Not only does it move faster but it's been totally different. I know, I know, every pregnancy is different but it's surprising HOW different…
With this pregnancy I have had some serious morning sickness and fatigue. The kind of fatigue where you fall asleep at a stop light or lock yourself in the toddlers room and pass out while he crawls all over you. It's a strange sensation and nothing you can describe or really understand until you are there. As we moved from the first trimester to the second the sickness and fatigue has gotten better and a little easier. However, as those first trimester symptoms decrease some new symptoms begin showing up like shortness of breath, round ligament pain, inability to sleep and the fun and strange kicks and tumbles in my tummy. I'm also having a really hard time figuring out what I want to eat… as in take a bite and then don't want it anymore. I should also note that my belly has popped.
Along with the excitement of the 20th week is the wonder of gender… Are we having a boy or a girl? It's funny because I wasn't too curious until I was in FL, around week 18. The suspicion got the best of me so I started searching for quizzes and wives tales. The Chinese chart says Girl, the Amish test says girl and some of the wives tale say girl. However, almost everyone is guessing boy. I'm back and forth on the issue. I can see both fitting so perfectly in our family. While I was in FL, my bestie, Susan, and I had a girls day and we decided to go to a psychic. We looked and looked but kept coming up with psychics that couldn't get us in the same day and one that wanted to meet us in a hotel… "um yeah, no way". However, we did find one and we had a blast with her. She first predicted girl, then she described Kelso almost to a T except for his hair color and length and then said, no, you know maybe it is a boy… and she went back and forth and finally said, I have never had this much trouble seeing before. Then she looked at my palm and said you are due to have 2 boys and a girl… but the 3rd one won't be for awhile. I was shocked… I mean a 3rd has crossed my mind before but I'm still adjusting to the idea of 2. ;) As we walked out the door she said I'm going with boy and asked for me to call when we find out.
Sooo…we had our ultrasound on Monday. It went pretty well but poor Kelso is a mess anytime I lie down in a medical facility… so we pumped him full of M&Ms and let the tech get to work. She tried and tried but baby was not corporative with the measurements so we're going to have to go in for a second/followup ultrasound. That being said, she was able to tell us the gender as our wiggly baby danced around my belly. I've told a few people but we are planning on telling our church family on Sunday and celebrating Kelso's birthday. I'm not sure when we will be releasing our big news but I promise it won't be too much longer so stay tuned! :)
