New York City?!

I can't believe I'm writing this blog from NYC. I feel like channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw as I type on my Mac, although we all know I'm really a "Miranda". ;) Sadly I'm exhausted and doubt this blog will have lots of cleaver thoughts or catchy lines like Carries always did but here we go.

We woke up after a crazy day that I don't even care to remember and we were both exhausted. I honestly don't think we would have made it if Jason hadn't step in and let me go to bed last night. When I bought my tickets a 10:30am flight seemed perfect but when you add in the fact we live 1.5 hrs away from the airport, the hour you should be at the airport early, the taking of my believed pets to my parents house and the drive from there it makes a 10:30am flight seem WAY too early. So an early morning with a rough day and little sleep the previous day leads to a few snags. First kitty decided she had to pee after Jason cleaned out her box, literally put it away and kitty decided to pee on the floor where it usually is. We finally got out the door, only like 15 mins behind schedule but as we stopped at a gas station to get a drink, we realized we'd forgotten our toiletries and had to go back for them...

Here is a picture for a little bit of an idea as to how crazy our car was. BTW, I <3 my Prius. I really don't know any car that can do so much.
Good news is Kitty really enjoyed the ride to my parents and with my awesome driving we got there in record time.

We flew on a small commuter jet here and it was a fine flight. Jason and I both slept and I pondered how weird it was to have nothing to do. We opted for a cab to our hotel and interestingly he took us to the wrong hotel... too bad I can't get my tip back, right? So after a little confusion we got to our hotel.

After getting settled.... by settled I mean dropping our bags and finding a map, we headed out into the big city to explore.  We got our subway passes, walked by the The world trade center memorial (which we overlook), the public library, Bryant park, the empire state building, Mood, Parson's school of design, NYU, Berkley, Union Square, Strand bookstore (from Absolutely Fabulous), part of time square and lots and lots of other stuff that we walked though and hardly remember.

Right before we left my dad told me it was fleet week and he was right. Been spotting our service men and women all day. Thank you military! :)

Sushi in the park to prevent my hanger.

This random artwork was over 600 chalk heads.

Not many pictures of Jason yet, they'll be coming I'm sure. ;) One thing I will say about NYC is the subway system is nowhere near what Paris' is. Wow, what a let down. Not only are the stops ugly in comparison but the multiple trains running on same lines leave much to be desired. So over all a great day. I'm tired and my feet hurt... I have to say I'm totally missing my "america" kicks. The pumas look nice and they don't draw attention but I'm proud to say it's day one and I already have a random blister. In other exciting news, I got to see 2 NYC rats. Kinda funny and on that note I'm going to bed.
